Polar will release Gold with Gold vinyl this year as a 25th anniversary release. "Gold with Gold"? Do you mean "Gold with More Gold"? Gold was re-issued on vinyl a couple of years ago, using the original 1992 artwork.

Polar will release Gold with Gold vinyl this year as a 25th anniversary release. I'm sure the gold vinyl may contain the recent remasters like the Gold's 25th Anniversary CD reissue? As long as there's a small excerpt (of the remasters that are pressed on vinyl. What I mean by 'small excerpt' is something like a promotional digital advertisement) that has no Tretow-treble or the agonizing Astley artifacts, then maybe I can dig into this version of Gold: Greatest Hits, but Spotify saved me from collecting too much records. I think the promotion seems rather outdated, though, just the same old routine, nothing new. – I judge remasters and rereleases by the content, not for the extravagant stuffs

You would think just once to make it really special they would use the correct logo not the one from 1992

Looks like the standard ABBARTM logo to me; did they re-jig it in some way in 1992, then?

Looks like the standard ABBA RTM logo to me; did they re-jig it in some way in 1992, then? Without a doubt. The ABBA text isn't in the Gothic typeface, and it's wider than the original Söderqvist logo (the subsequent reissued album cover on the right)

Comparing the logo on GOLD to the cover of Arrival, the gaps between the letters look bigger; not a great deal in it, though. Edit: Jaki interposed himself as I was typing and posting this! Maybe they did it because the proportions of the 'original' make it look a bit lumbering when it's required to cover a bigger area of cover, as it is on GOLD. I can see why they decided to modify it slightly. Hang on; the reissue's the one of the right in your post, Liebers? Without a doubt. The ABBA text isn't in the Gothic typeface, and it's wider than the original Soderqvist logo (the subsequent reissued album cover on the right) Because it's the logo from the cover on the left of your post that looks more like the logo on the gatefold cover in Alex's post.

You've got the idea of what I mean, by the analogy between the original 1992 cover and the 2010s reissue cover... Though there could be some other factors that could consequently make ABBA's Gold: Greatest Hits become the album art (with that large gap of the texts) of 1992 as we know it, like licensing issues (PolyGram, especially), but that could be one of those rumours, I suppose. No, I'm not Jaki Liebezeit the drummer, but I am in fact a fan of his drumming and CAN. (may he rest in peace).. And also, my name actually does start with a J, what a coincidence. Funny that you remarked me as that. I didn't expect it to be coming.

Is anyone really serious, that they would buy this re re re re re issue because of a different Logo...!!!!!
Come on, we do deserve something new....... or not.... as those who say they owe us nothing... all down to choices again....

While I'm not against various re-releases, this is indeed ridiculous as the only "bonus" feature here is the golden colour of the vinyl. I really don't see the target group for this... It will hardly do anything for boosting the sales of Gold as the previous re-issues did. And the 1992 logo is just awful - is anybody nostalgic about it?

The Super Deluxe Edition blog reviews this release today, and says what most of us have either said or are thinking... "There’s flogging a dead horse, and then there’s resuscitating said dead horse to flog it some more. People, I give you yet another edition of ABBA’s Gold compilation, which most people call ‘ABBA Gold’ (see Wings Wildlife, for similar confusion). "What I’m talking about is a new gold double vinyl edition of the 1992 compilation which ‘celebrates’ the 25th anniversary of its original release, or maybe the 43rd anniversary of the band winning the Eurovision Song Contest, or possibly the 35th anniversary of their last TV appearance… "Anyway, there have of course been billions of editions since this came out in 1992. CD, vinyl, cassette, laserdisc, CD+DVD combo and a three-CD version which was issued in ‘gold’ (coloured!) ‘steelbook’ packaging in 2014. "This new coloured vinyl is 180g vinyl of course. Surely record labels should stop telling us when vinyl is 180g, since, that’s what we expect these days, isn’t it? Let’s make a deal, just tell us when vinyl ISN’T 180g, for example 140 or 200g. "It’s times like this that I quite admire Kate Bush. She doesn’t want to dig into her archive for deluxe reissues, so she leaves well alone! Okay, it’s somewhat frustrating as a fan but probably better than this. Bjorn and Benny should really hang their heads in shame for allowing reissues like this. Honestly, how much juice can you squeeze out of one 19-track compilation? It’s not even the best ABBA compilation. 1982’s The First Ten Years is far better; it has all the same hits but features late career highlights such as Under Attack and The Day Before You Came not on Gold. Maybe they should reissue that as The Only Ten Years? "Look out next year for the half-speed mastered 45RPM ABBA Gold 4LP box that will celebrate 40 years since Summer Night City went to number one in Ireland." www.superdeluxeedition.com/feature/saturday-deluxe-6-may-2017/#more-131507
