Vote for up to SIX songs
I have excluded the 2 cartoons and band song. Vote up to 6 songs.

The only reason I didn't include 'The Visitors' was because I can't reconcile a dancing 1977-image ABBA performing this 1981 electronic darkness.

Its difficult to pick your favourites when there all great songs, but for me 1st choice would be LAYLOM /SNC , its just brilliantly put together.

I suspect that my five faves might change if I were to see the show again. While the majority of the audience seemed to be there for the biggest hits, I really enjoyed seeing the more under-the-radar songs getting a moment to shine. And some of the songs and performances had unexpected impact - emotional impact, even. I wonder how all of this might translate to an audio only release on CD/vinyl?

My favourite performances from " Voyage ",
5. The disco sequence including " Gimme Gimme Gimme ", " Summer Night City " and " Lay All Your Love On Me ". 4. Both " Chiquitita " and " Fernando ". 3. " SOS " and " Knowing You ". 2. " The Winner Takes It All ". 1. " Dancing Queen ".
Hearing ABBA perform " I Still Have Faith In You " and " Don't Shut Me Down " was, also a joy for me.
It was a very difficult choice as it was an outstanding concert and wonderful experience

The most favourite (jaw-dropping) moment by far is the opening - The Visitors followed by Hole In Your Soul. The LAYLOM / SNC transition is another highlight. Dancing Queen was a pure joy visually (but I see it's not a favourite for the others and I wonder why). I prefer the avatar performances over the videos but Knowing Me, Knowing You is absolutely brilliant, so it got my final vote.

Another Oops moment. Apparently you can choose 6 songs. Hey, Alan, edit again 😀

Michal - Dancing Queen, not doing so well A) It's ABBA's most successful song so of course hardcore fans won't vote for it B) The ABBAtar performance was good but not spectacular.

Another Oops moment. Apparently you can choose 6 songs. Hey, Alan, edit again 😀 It let me amend the topic title but not the question in the poll. Will it let you amend it, johnny? Possibly not but just wondered, as you created the poll and not me.

It won't allow me to change poll title - but should be clear you have up to 6 votes. I had intended 5 votes but pressed 6 votes.
Anyway, in polls I have done often people don't use max no. of votes. My bad.
Gist of votes so far
1. SNC 2. LAYLOM 2. The Visitors 4. I Still Have Faith in You 5. When All is Said and Done
I would imagine very different from casual fans.

A) is what I absolutely don't understand. I definitely count among the hardcore fans but I don't see why that should be a reason not to rate the song highly. It's absolutely brilliant and it never leaves my personal Top 10 As for B) The costumes in this part of the show are IMO one of the best (for me challenged only by the Phoenix capes) and especially Agnetha looks gorgeous in that translucent long skirt. Also their young looks are in harmony with the song (it reminds me of the 1977 tour), and all of this combined makes Dancing Queen a spectacular performance for me.

^ Well, 11 hardcore fans have voted so far and only 1 puts in in Top 5...or 6!

^ And that's exactly what I don't understand "It's ABBA's most successful song so of course hardcore fans won't vote for it" - especially the "OF COURSE" part. Why are hardcore fans not supposed to like their most successful song? Because it's too obvious and as a hardcore fan you should rather be admiring the "hidden gems"?

Yep! Hardcore fans are getting excited about say When All is Said and Done over Dancing Queen or Mamma Mia.
Is this news?

It's not news. I just don't get the reason. It's the same thing as The Day Before You Came winning the all-time favourites polls... Sure, a brilliant song and I love it. And I could name so many lesser-known tracks I absolutely love too but the hits are so good that it's hard to justify overlooking them. It seems to me that many fans vote for lesser known tracks just to show that they don't belong to the "casual" category.

The reason is that people will vote for their favourites. And, for me, part of that reason was the joy of seeing songs I never thought I'd see performed get a proper moment on stage. I loved all of the performances (apart from the animation sections). I also voted for the songs I'd love to have on CD/vinyl. As Johnny suggests, casual fans would probably opt for the biggest hits from Gold. We have to see the poll as representative of the preferences of fairly hardcore fans who have a "relationship" with lesser-known material. That's the reason.

Great poll Johnny :-) I was voting for the songs that added something extra to the familiar version. Such as the extra verse in WAISAD and the way it starts off. TWTIA also got me from the start. HIYS was great with a different ending. LAYLOM was also wonderful. Shame they never made a proper video for it all those years ago, especially when That's Me and One Man, One Woman were made. As I have said before, the live band is utterly brilliant recreating these songs and hopefully B&B can find another set of band members (if it does indeed come to Melbourne) that are as good. I thought the Eurovision segment was done well and it was good to see the ABBAtars from different angles. Regards JChan

I will be going again in 2 weeks time. Let's hope there's a setlist change for the anniversary next week but I don't think there will be.
The big hits got more crowd reaction than lesser known songs - obviously. Of the album track and Voyage album songs I think I Still Have Faith in You got the best response. DSMD and the cartoon featuring Eagle got muted responses.
DSMD hasn't gone down well in this poll.

We have to see the poll as representative of the preferences of fairly hardcore fans who have a "relationship" with lesser-known material. That's the reason. I have a "relationship" with every song they ever released and still don't feel I should neglect the most famous material just because it's on Gold. But it seems I'm in minority. I totally understand that everybody has his or her preferences and I respect that, it is the "of course" thing, that ingrigues me. I will leave it at that, it would maybe deserve a thread of its own.

For me it’s over-familiarity with the well-known songs. Not really because of Gold as I never listen to that compilation, but I’ve nevertheless heard those songs at least 10 times more than most of the album tracks. Also, you can go to any ABBA show and hear the famous ones. I saw an “ABBA Songbook” one on a cruise ship this week and there was no surprises in terms of songs. So I’m afraid the lesser-known ones in Voyage will get my vote. Particularly ones with no visual performance otherwise (LAYLOM got my vote on that basis, even though it’s on Gold) but also both The Visitors and Hole in Your Soul did.

Like you, I have a "relationship" with all of the material. The fact that Dancing Queen is their biggest and most famous hit is not in any way undermined by my preference for the excitement I felt by seeing an outlier like The Visitors being performed. I really enjoyed all of the performances - even of TYFTM, a song I care little for. If this was a ranking, instead of a poll, DQ would probably be up there in the top 10 for me. If this forum was populated with an equal, active amount of casual fans, I imagine this poll would look very different, with the last two songs of the setlist tussling for supremacy right at the top. For what it's worth, Mamma Mia made my top 6 here. A giant, iconic hit.

Just going by my one visit, the songs with the most positive reactions
1. Dancing Queen 2. The Winner Takes it All 3. Chiquitita - quite surprisingly
Then in no particular order, Knowing Me, Knowing You, SOS, Mamma Mia

I’ve also only been once (though I have a ticket for later this year), and I remember the best response was to Chiquitita. I was surprised.

Yes, Chiquitita received enormous response every time I attended the concert and I'm not sure why. The performance is not exactly spectacular. In fact if I was to choose a song to swap, Chiquitita would be a hot candidate.

I went with:
The Visitors, because I was beside myself with excitement at that point and it was a calculating, brooding start to the concert; a bit of a master stroke really: Euro-pop-tastic.
LAYLOM/SNC: they picked up the pace here plus I loved the futuristic avatars. It worked really well and it also surprised me because ironically, I don’t really like LAYLOM as a song.
I Still Have Faith in You: I don’t know why, but it just got me a bit more emotional. Love the actual song too. YES: TAKE MY MONEY, BJORN!
Waterloo: I’m the first person to vote for this one 😀. But it was the 50th anniversary weekend and I apologise for nothing. I’m also a sucker for early ABBA even though I was just a new-born baby at the time. I was down with the feather boa/Hen party brigade for this one.
Dancing Queen: I mean come on, if they’re not going to play ‘If It Wasn’t For the Nights’ or ‘Angeleyes’, then I suppose I can at least enjoy the next best thing 😉

On my first visit I would have ranked the songs/performances I enjoyed the most
1. SOS 2. KMKY 3. LAYLOM 4. SNC 5. I Still Have Faith in You 6. The Visitors
On my second visit, less focus and distraction on the flashing lights. audience re-action or my own bias towards a song and more on the actual performance.
My Top 6 for that time
1. LAYLOM (3) 2. The Visitors(6) 3. Mamma Mia (-) 4. KMKY (2) 5. SOS (1) 6. I Still Have Faith in You (5)
The change from LAYLOM to SNC was great but the performance not as great as I had first thought. Maybe the live band could have done this 1979 Wembley style.
