Thanks baab for your post about Voyage songs that are not exactly new. I was aware that Little Things previously existed as a ringtone but did not know elements of I Still Have Faith originated from the "Cirkeln" Soundtrack. I've listened to it on YouTube and it's great. Still think it as such a wasted opportunity not to include JLT on Voyage (rectified, as required, although to me the sax version is great as it is) particularly when they opted to rework the (imo) rather inferior JAN.
We have no right to demand that Abba give official releases to everything they have recorded, but at their age there will now be nothing new from the vaults, so any opportunity to hear any new material seems like a real shame. As hard as it is, we just have to accept that and be grateful for the songs they have given us that have brought such joy.
As for the new compilation, it does seem like a very expensive lost opportunity. I might be tempted at the right price if only to get JAN, LT, and NDAI on vinyl. I seem to be in the minority as someone you likes LT, although I could have done without the children's choir. I find it utterly charming and I also like the lyrics.

The first time those two unreleased Voyage songs were mentioned during an interview with Björn & Benny, Björn seemed to indicate they stopped working on them because the girls/ladies did not like singing them.
There have been a few instances before when the girls made it pretty clear in the studio that they didn't like to sing a certain song (Just A Notion/Rubber Ball Man/Under My Sun).
Maybe that's why they won't release them...

Gimme x 3 has been released in Dolby Atmos today. It has more differences than the Waterloo Atmos mix. I'll let you decide what you think.

Will be interesting to see if anyone notices much difference. I heard Gimme not long ago and to me, the instrumental break still sounds fresh. I guess that’s partly because I’ve heard it less, with it not being in the video. I can’t believe there are some that say it should have been edited out. To me it’s one of the best things about it.
Then again, I’m a fan of instrumental breaks anyway. I’m a Marionette and Eagle spring to mind.

All these atmos releases seem so chaotic. Perhaps there is NO plan for a physical Gold atmos release after all.

There is an Interview with Bernhard Löhr about the Atmos Project in the latest Magazine from the Official ABBA Fanclub. In that he states that he first needed to complete the mix for Waterloo for the 50th Anniversary, then he completes the ABBA Gold content and afterwards all other songs. But it takes much time and he doesn't have a deadline for completion, also because Benny needs to approve every step and the final result for every song, which can take weeks. Also because there have been made mistakes with the mastertapes and those mistakes first need to be undone.

Not impressed by the dolby mix for Voyage or Waterloo. Not impressed by his engineering for Voyage either. My expectations are low.

I'm now able to hear real Dolby Atmos in my new BMW with Apple Car Play and recently was very surprised about details and vocals I heard in the Voyage Atmos Mix which I haven't heard before. However, I will not upgrade my stereo at home, I learned that you need a 7.1 loudspeaker/soundbar system at least and a Dolby Atmos compatible receiver...

The breakdown of the new Atmos Mix of Gimme Gimme Gimme has found its way onto YouTube (thanks, The Acetaters!):

Do you think we should read anything into the official ABBA Youtube account uploading digitally remastered TV appearances. Do you think they're going to be released to purchase as part of a twelfth-hour 50th anniversary cash-in, or do you think they are just being remastered for posterity and that's it?

Do you think they're going to be released to purchase as part of a twelfth-hour 50th anniversary cash-in, or do you think they are just being remastered for posterity and that's it? I wouldn’t have thought so. A DVD would be a bit pointless if they’re on YouTube and I can’t see any such audio releases happening. Still, it is good that they’re being upscaled etc.

I agree, DVD releases seem to have ceased with the last Deluxe Edition from 2014 anyway. So it's really nice they put some key TV performances on the official YouTube channel in apparently newly-prepared quality.

After Catherine Tate's interview and 'a source' spilling out there would be new songs released, I see the connection between tomorrow's 'The Singles - The First 50 Years' other circumstances. Someone said the track list of the new compilation was different which makes sense. I think the unreleased 'Voyage' songs were planned to be used for the new album tomorrow. That makes me wonder, if Björn and Benny still think they are not good enough or they have bigger plans for them. Maybe there will be something new when the ABBA Arena moves to other places, so they can push it by releasing a single. I still hope for an anthology someday 😅

Haha Gassi,
yessss, the very last words on this compilation are "this isn't where it ends"
Pure coincidence?
But unfortunately, Björn and Benny are not e.g. Lady Gaga, who is a master in putting her Fans on scavenger hunts to new music, new projects.
Sadly...

Most people don't have a turn table, including many vinyl buyers. But many vinyl buyers they are just souvenirs.
