I know this is a very, very long shot, but does anybody know if ABBA stayed anywhere in Manchester before or after their show at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester on 11 February 1977? Because they had shows the night before and after the Manchester date, both only a couple of hours' drive away, it's logistically possible that they didn't stay anywhere, but ABBA being ABBA, it seems far more feasible that they stayed at least one night. I know the Midland often used to host artists when they played the Free Trade Hall until the hall closed (the Beatles quite famously stayed at the Midland and were refused entry to the restaurant), so that seems like the most likely option, but I can't find any info anywhere.
If anyone knows and can shed a little light on where they stayed in Manchester (if anywhere), I'd be super grateful. Thank you.

Likewise I would also like to know where they stayed as well.
However, London would have only been three hours away by car and there wouldn't have been anywhere near as much raod traffic as there is now. I would not like to drive to London nowadays.

I guess ABBA kept a lot of their hotel itineraries a secret back in the day for fear of encouraging masses of fans outside. I would hazard a guess that no-one in the group would remember exactly where they stayed nowadays, if asked.

They certainly didn't have publicists revealing flight times and hotel addresses to fans like some bands did on tour, but they certainly weren't as cagey about it as they would be nowadays. They always had fans outside their hotels on tour, so even if ABBA themselves don't remember (and I agree with you that they themselves wouldn't), I just hope that there are still fans who remember.
