It seems remiss not to mention the passing of Dame Vera Lynn. Her era and music is probably of little interest to most of us on this forum. But she proved the power of music to the British forces of WWII, and she remained concerned about the welfare of war veterans for the rest of her life. And, at 103, lived longer than the vast majority who survived the war.
If I'm not mistaken, I believe Benny once mentioned a song Dame Vera made famous as being a great one: We'll Meet Again. I can understand what he means, especially when understood in context. The simple, sincere lyrics, in particular, must have been overpoweringly, heartbreakingly, meaningful at the time.
