Altogether in the first semi final, these songs have made it through to the final. Honey Honey SOS I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do I've Been Waiting For You Money Money Money Move On Hole In Your Soul I'm A Marionette Voulez-Vous Chiquitita Summer Night City Kisses Of Fire Our Last Summer Lay All Your Love On Me One Of Us It was clear that SOS would be in first place here as there were 25 votes. In 2nd place was Summer Night City but was quite far behind compared to SOS with 10 votes. The songs that didn’t get past the 1st semi final. Disillusion I Saw It In The Mirror He Is Your Brother Hey Hey Helen Rock Me My Love My Life That's Me Happy Hawaii As Good As New Andante, Andante Me And I The Way Old Friends Do Elaine Put On Your White Sombrero Head Over Heels I Let The Music Speak Cassandra Under Attack The songs with 0 votes. Nothing at all. Brace yourself.  People Need Love Nina, Pretty Ballerina She's My Kind Of Girl Merry-Go-Round Ah Vilka Tider King Kong Song What About Livingstone Suzy Hang-A-Round Tropical Loveland Man In The Middle Thank You For The Music I was quite shocked that Disillusion, Happy Hawaii and As Good As New didn’t get many points. Even more shocked that Nina Pretty Ballerina and Thank You For The Music didn’t get any points at all. I find it quite amusing that a song from ABBA Gold is right at the bottom here. What are your thoughts on this? |

Surprised at As good as new. Andante andante and My love my life not doing better. Not surprised at TYFTM. It’s been overexposed over the years and cringeworthy. It really should not have been on Gold when bigger hits were left off. It was a favourite in its time but has aged badly. Sad to see TACOM and Fernando and Super trouper not making the final. Three of ABBA’s biggest selling singles. A choice of two in that category may have changed that. I know I toyed with my first choice and Fernando. Looking forward to casting my votes in the final. Not surprised at Nina either . Very early 70s sound. Fun but not anywhere near the quality we came to expect. Loved it as a child but don’t listen to it as an adult. A few fall into that category.

Well with some of my favourites knocked out ...Fernando, TACOM , Andante Andante, As Good As New and Slipping Through my Fingers is going to make my voting a little easier but still going to be difficult. I have my 10 song choices ready. First 8 secure but for the last two I could have picked from 10 more even with 7 of my favourites out of the pick list ... Super Trouper and My Love My Life adding to the list above. Arrival is giving me problems as I keep wavering. It’s so haunting. I feel it gets overlooked. Think most people would struggle to identify it is an Abba song.

I have found it fun to revisit all the songs and realising how many good songs they have in their catalogue. I remember when I was very young how I loved some songs more than others but as I got older those tastes changed. I am looking forward to seeing the current preferred songs by the Abbachat community. Just to see what the current preferences are. All in good time.

It is interesting how tastes change over the years with ABBA fans. I was never struck on "Angeleyes" but recently I re-discovered it and I listen to it more now than I did in the past. Another is "Dream World", which I have grown to love as the harmonies are sublime. Much better than the awful "Does Your Mother Know" which I never liked. Actually, " Dum Dum Diddle " isn't that bad or " My Mama Said ". Rubber Ball Man, we are eager to await the results. You are doing a great job.

Interesting. Only 3 out of the original 9 made it into the final from The Visitors - the album that a lot of Abba fans regard as their best. Two scoring zero votes. Surprised at Soldiers getting zero votes. Surprised at Should I laugh or cry getting through. Like it but I just feel the song needed more work on it ...the lyrics in particular. I suspect that it is why it did not appear on the original release of The Visitors. Most of the zero votes are for songs from the early years which I expected.

Yeah. Thanks Rubberball Man. It will be interesting to see the results. Eagle seems to be scoring consistently and KMKY. But then there are the votes from other sources which may show different preferences. Speaking for myself, my song preferences change from year to year with a few exceptions. Remember at one point TNOTG was my 5th favourite on The Album. That changed to being my first over the years finally pushing TACOM to second.
