I have decided not to compile my Top 100 ABBA Songs because it will take me too long and I am not brilliant regarding reviewing every song. Instead I have chosen to score each song from 1 to 10 judging on how much I like it. Also, I have chosen not to post a review. Here goes :

I agree with a lot your 10s, Edmund. Especially Soldiers (Fantastic chorus), When I Kissed The Teacher, and Happy New Year.(For me, one of the finest ABBA songs, melodically.) And I'm glad you give Gonna Sing You My Lovesong an 8. Although it came along early, I still think it's one of Frida's best vocals in ABBA

Thanks for your input, Richard. There are so many magnificent songs which I have awarded with a 10 for outstanding. When I have a little more time I will elaborate as to why I like these particular songs so much.

Thank you, Tony. I agree everyone's ratings will vary which makes it all the more interesting. I knew instinctively which ones deserved 8, 9 and 10 from my point of view. Also, I thought with the songs that aren't particular favourites of mine I would still award them points rather than nil after all they remain solid pop songs. Some of ABBA's very early material which feature on " Ring Ring " and " Waterloo " ( aren't much to ride home about ) but I still gave them a few scores. I see, ABBAProfessor, has compiled his ABBA Megarate. Good work ! I will compare his with mine. However, former forum member ThisBoyCries should be commended for his brilliant retrospective megarate. His reviews were creative and amusing little anecdotes and also, very fair and interesting. Unfortunately, I wouldn't know where to start in respect of reviewing and analysing each ABBA song.

They largely chime with my own ratings from the old Megarate. From Arrival My Love, My Life is indeed terrific, arguably Agnetha's finest moment in solo plaintive ballad mode, and so is the underrated and still hard to peg That's Me. From The Album I also rate Move On very highly - a wonderfully strong and engaging track. The main points of difference would be: Arrival: I'd downgrade WIKTT and upgrade Dum Dum Diddle (yes, as has often been said, lyrically inane, but there's something timelessly affecting about Benny's synth riff on this, the ascending step structure of the verses is strong and uplifting, and the marimbas (or is it a synth on 'marimba' setting?) are a lovely touch on the lead-in to the chorus. A great tune and arrangement and performance, only let down by those bung-'em-down lyrics). The Album: I think that Hole In Your Soul is as every bit as good and vital as Move On (as well as being the perfect choice, in album track sequence terms, to receive the baton from the latter), being just about their most accomplished and ballsy-est rocker. I Wonder and TYFTM would also swap scores. I Wonder is a Frida spotlight track that puts the likes of When All Is Said And Done and I Let The Music Speak and even Like An Angel.. in the shade. Take A Chance On Me on the other hand isn't half it's cracked up to be - clattering away and wearing out its welcome quickly. *not literally |

Orf, some good points raised here. I appreciate your input. I would like to review each song at some point and give my reasons which songs I love and others which may not be my biggest favourites.

Nice to see a new list. Your tastes are fairly similar to mine. Arrival and The Album are ABBA’s peak. Both are almost perfect albums.

Ok I thought Id waste 30 minutes doing my current rankings..
Ill be harsh as its easy to rate high, so if a track gets a 5 for instance it doesn't necessarily mean i dislike it .. where perhaps a 1 would....some tracks may even get a 0 as I don't listen to them anymore may even skip !!!
Like all of us tastes change probably on a weekly basis dare i say daily !!
