Too little football talk on this forum!
Ahead of a very possible quarter-final between England and Sweden, I'd therefore like to post a few words of warning from Benny! (what he said then has been broken once since, but don't you mind about that...)

We will see how England play on Saturday. Our Team seem more enthusiastic than usual, at this World Cup.
I didn't think that Sweden played really great against Switzerland, so they will have to raise their Game to beat England.
We will see what happens in Saturday's Match.
Around 30 Million people may watch it in the UK. We will see.

Alas no divided loyalties..
England all the way, it's such a feel good for the country...
Realistically tough match, quite similar , both Northern European, but hope we just do it, then who knows...

So - Today at 19.00 UK Time, England plays against Croatia in the World Cup Semi Final.
I think that England will Win.
We then play France in the Final. I think that we will Win.
As regards the UK 'Singles' Chart - if we Win then '3 Lions' by Baddiel, Skinner and The Lightning Seeds will rise to No.1. It will be its 4th time at No.1. The original version was No.1 twice in 1996. It was also No.16 in 2002, No.9 in 2006, No.10 in 2010 and No.27 in 2014.
It was No.1 again in 1998. That was a re-recording, with some changed lyrics.
At present the 1996 version is at No.24 in the UK. It will jump to No.1 in the 'Singles' Chart if England Win today's World Cup Semi Final. It is currently at No.1 in the Mid Week Chart, due to our Quarter Final Win over Sweden. It is 100% certain to be No.1 on Friday, if we beat Croatia today. Then it will remain at No.1 - next Week - if we Win Saturday's World Cup Final.
Oddly, The OCC are adding together all of the UK Sales of both the 1996 and 1998 Recordings - but they won't allow the Chart Positions of the 1998 version to be added to the 1996 version. The OCC give the 1996 + 1998 versions a massive 1,600,000 UK Sales. By far the biggest ever UK Football Single. I think that, as they are combining its 1996 and 1998 Sales, they ought to combine their Chart Positions too. A lot of people agree with me.

Oh well - England lost to Croatia, (1 - 2), after all. I watched the Match. England should have scored at least 3 Goals in the First Half. We missed too many chances. By the time the 2nd Half started, we were too tired to create any chances at all. Croatia Won because they were less tired than us in the 2nd Half and in the 30 Minutes of Extra Time. We should have realised that if we missed our chances in the 1st Half, we may not get any more in the 2nd Half. Sure enough - we didn't...
'Three Lions' will still rise from No.24 to No.1 on Friday. That's because its Sales are so far ahead of the No.2 Single.
So, it will become the 5th UK Single to go to No.1 on 4 occasions - Twice in 1996. Once in 1998. Once in 2018.
The other 4 Hits are:,
1)... I Believe -- 3 times in 1953 for Frankie Laine. Once in 1995 for Robson & Jerome
2)... Unchained Melody -- Once for Jimmy Young in 1955. Once for the Righteous Brothers in 1990. Once for Robson & Jerome in 1995. Once for Gareth Gates in 2002.
3)... Singing The Blues -- 3 times for Guy Mitchell in 1957. Once for Tommy Steele in 1957.
4)... Do They Know It's Christmas? -- Once for Band Aid in 1984-1985. Once for Band Aid II in 1989-1990. Once for Band Aid 20 in 2004-2005. Once for Band Aid 30 in 2014.
