To jump from No.51 to No.15 'Gold's UK Sales rose almost 115% over the previous Week.
It is its 103rd Week in the UK Top 20. So 1 more Week & it will have spent 2 Years in that part of the UK Album Chart.
It is its first Week, in the UK Top 15, since W/E 27th September 2008, when it was at No.14. It was last in the UK Top 20 on W/E 1st September 2016 - No.18.
It sold 3,925 copies to be at No.15.
It has now sold almost 40,000 UK copies in 2018 & that is before 'Mamma Mia! 2' gives it a bigger boost in July & August etc.
'Gold' has re-entered the German Top 100 at No.58. It is its 299th Top 100 Week. That puts it 4th= with The Beatles '1962-1966' (The Red Album), Compilation, from 1973. So, 'ABBA Gold' will soon overtake that & become only the 4th German Album to reach 300 Weeks, in their Top 100.
In Ireland, 'ABBA Gold' has jumped from No.32 to No.18. It is its 485th Week in the Irish Top 100.
Strangely, all of the attention about ABBA returning, has not affected the Swedish Album Chart. There is nothing by ABBA in their latest Chart...
Not sure why that should be in Sweden. If it had not been for Abba I doubt if record companies would have given artists from non speaking English countries a second thought. So Roxette, The Cardigans etc might not have hit the charts outwith Scandinavia quite as easily or at all. Most countries would celebrate having the 2nd biggest selling band in pop history. Not to mention the money they have generated for their country.
