Odd. I would have though the original LP was still somehow available. I wonder if they'll tart it up with coloured vinyl or somesuch? 2020 could end up being a big re-release year: the live LP "reissue," the Super Trouper 40th anniversary reissue extravaganza and - who knows? - a Gracias Por La Musica reissue on vinyl...?
I’d say coloured vinyl. That seems to be the rage these days. A straightforward black vinyl reissue would be a bit boring. I’ve got the original but never actually opened the cellophane!
Gracias Por La Musica was released right at the end of the deluxe CD issues. If the current half-speed vinyl album/coloured vinyl single box/single picture disc series continues in the same order, I don’t think we’ll see Gracias next year, but who knows?
The original 3LP version of this is currently somewhat difficult to find - so that might have played a part in the decision to release it again.
Also, a few fans reported sound distortions on their original vinyl copies - I'm not too sure exactly what these were, but I understand it was something that was not obvious on the CD version (I only ever had the latter). So, perhaps a 'clean-up' of some sort has been performed by Polar, who were apparently alerted to the problem on the original pressings.
I thought that some Fans may be interested, in this Article, about the Vinyl 1979 'Live' Album. It is from the UDiscoverMusic Site, and it is by Mark Elliott. It is a very positive Review. It was published on Friday - March 13th...
