'Ring Ring' was the first studio album released by ABBA as a group in 1973 - although the foursome were not as yet titled as ABBA.
The album was re-released in Australasia in 1975 - but was not released in the UK until 1992, and the United States until 1995.
The album was first remastered and reissued on CD in 1997.

For a while, I actually liked this album more than the "Waterloo" album. It has some terrific pop moments: "Ring Ring," "Another Town, Another Train," "Disillusion," "Nina, Pretty Ballerina" and, my favourite, "He Is Your Brother" that really pointed towards the terrific act that ABBA would eventually become. As bland as it is, I don't quite get why "I Saw It In The Mirror" attracts such negativity when the APPALLING "I Am Just A Girl" is lurking on the other side of the record to make you lose your lunch.
They were finding their feet and, as they weren't really committed to working forever as a group at this stage, I can kind of forgive the slapdash nature of this collection. And yes, I mean collection: there is too little cohesiveness to make it feel like an album.

I enjoy most of the songs on this album with the exception of 'I'm Just A Girl', 'I Saw It In The Mirror'.

Not the worst Album considering they were still trying to find what style or what road to take musically, love Dissiulision And Another Town Another Train, when you read Carl Magnus Palms notes about this a few B & B's songs from the early seventies thrown in to make up enough tracks for a rushed release

Second post - and here's a big confession already. I've been an ABBA fan for 36 years but I only got round to buying 'Ring Ring' this year! My username sort of celebrates 'the zeal of the convert' as they say, because I really like it - and for all those years I persuaded myself I wouldn't!
Basically, back in the 70s, it was 'The Album' that I bought first as it was the current LP. Then I backfilled furiously and got 'Greatest Hits', 'Arrival' and 'ABBA'. But then I got 'Waterloo' and the quality really seemed to nosedive, to be honest. There were quite a few tracks there that I didn't rate. (There still are.) Then I heard one particular song from 'Ring Ring' (I think it was 'I Am Just a Girl') and - to be blunt - I was horrified. I was afraid that, if I bought the RR album and there was more stuff like that on it, ABBA would actually go down in my estimation - and I simply couldn't let that happen.
Spring forward to this year and there was a 'spirited debate' (i.e. a bit of a ding-dong) going on at ABBA4Ever about 'I Saw It in the Mirror' (not that I was involved). Anyway, Alan/ILetTheMusicSpeak, I think, suggested that I listen to the track, which I genuinely had never heard before. Sorry, but I really liked it! And that encouraged me to (finally) bite the bullet and buy the RR album. Vastly better than 'Waterloo' in my view, despite it being very 'formative'. I'm now slightly addicted to 'Disillusion', as well as ISIITM. Great backing vocals on that last one. I've also developed an inexplicable soft spot for 'Rock 'n' Roll Band' - super-simple but great fun, and perhaps giving just a hint as to what ABBA might have developed into if they'd gone further down the rock route.
Overall, I'll give the album 7.5/10.

Since Monica has posted an English translation of the lyrics to the Swedish version of Ring Ring, I decided to translate the lyrics to the Spanish version. I took Spanish in high school. But I'm not fluent in Spanish. If there is a member of this forum who is fluent in Spanish, maybe that person could post a better translation. Anyway, here is my translation.

A while after I posted my translation, I realized that one line in the translation was slightly incorrect and that I had inadvertently omitted a part of another line. I have edited the translation and corrected those errors.

Ring Ring is my favourite ABBA album I just adore it every song is fantastic, 'Nina Pretty Ballerina' is my favourite song from the album with 'Me And Bobby And Bobby's Brother' a very close second every song has its own unique story.

I think this album is criminally underrated. There are so many great songs on here. It’s very un-‘Abba-like’ in the sense that there’s very little that resembles their mid and late period but-hitters. The album is exactly of its time though; very 1973, flowery wallpaper, flares and easy listening/soft rock/bubblegum pop songs.
My guilt pleasure on this record is ‘Me and Bobby and Bobby’s Brother’. It’s such a great little tune with bags of charm.
